Tragedy struck a Michigan woman when she fatally shot herself while adjusting her bra holster, the Kalamazoo Gazette reported.

Christina Bond was found with a gunshot wound to the eye by officers responding to an emergency at her Lake Michigan home on Jan. 1.

She was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital and died the next day, but St. Joseph police revealed Wednesday the 55-year-old accidentally killed herself while fixing her bra holster.

"She was having trouble adjusting her bra holster, couldn't get it to fit the way she wanted it to," St. Joseph Public Safety Director Mark Clapp told the newspaper.

"She was looking down at it and accidentally discharged the weapon."

Shortly before her death, Bond was elected as a precinct delegate for St. Joseph Charter Township precinct 1, according to her obituary.

Bond spent two years in the Navy after high school and went on to serve as an administrator at Road to Life Church for 15 years.

A full autopsy report is still pending.
