So you've decided not to have a cookout in the backyard this year. We get it: maybe you're not the 'cue-ing type, or you just don't have a yard in the back of your building to host an outdoor fete. No problem. Here are ten places that will be open on the 4th of July.

1. Fette Sau- 354 Metropolitan Ave. Brooklyn, NY

Feel like observing the American way by getting BBQ? Look no further than Fette Sau, easily one of the best barbecue restaurants in Brooklyn. The pork belly is slathered in their signature sauce, and the brisket is tender while sparingly seasoned. The sides, (broccoli and potato salads are reigning champs) are just as palatable. There's a full bar, too-an IPA goes perfectly with their sweet rolls. Open until 1 a.m.

2. Sidewalk Café- 94 Avenue A New York, NY

This East Village gem is simple and unassuming: burgers, salads, thick, salty fries and outdoor seating options. Located on the bustling corner of Avenue A and 6th Street, this old-school spot is a great place to people watch while munching on American style snacks. Open until 4 a.m.

3. Barney Greengrass- 541 Amsterdam Ave. New York, NY

Caviar, hot egg sandwiches, bagels and soups-Barney Greengrass is a legendary Upper East Side deli. The restaurant opened in 1908, specializing in smoked fish and meats. Don't forget the triple decker, if you dare: corned beef, chopped liver and sliced onion. Open until 4 p.m.

4. John's Pizza- 278 Bleecker St. New York, NY

One of the original pizza spots of New York City, John's is known for its super thin crust and the etchings all over the wooden booths inside. But be prepared to wait in line a little, especially today-this place is constantly full.

5. Sweet Chick- 164 Bedford Ave. Brooklyn, NY

Chicken and waffles. Crispy, golden and fluffy. Need we say more? This Southern-style restaurant has taken dishes like chicken buckets and Appalachian cider beans and put it right in the middle of North Side Williamsburg. Try some of the specialty cocktails.

6. Tompkins Square Bagels- 165 Avenue A New York, NY

Want to eat simply some of the best bagels in New York City? Tompkins Square can't be beat. The spread of salads and cream cheese concoctions are especially on point. They suggest you don't toast your bagel, and we suggest you take that advice. Open until 5 p.m.

7. Noodle Village- 13 Mott St. New York, NY

People say the only places open on Christmas are Chinese restaurants, and perhaps, for the fourth of July, they're right. Noodle Village is one, anyway: slurp down the best soup dumplings in Chinatown and choose from their extensive noodle, vegetable and meat dish menu. Open until 11 p.m.

8. The Dead Poet- 450 Amsterdam Ave. New York NY

This literary-themed restaurant will close "whenever it gets slow" on the 4th of July. No food here, just booze-the drinks are each named after poets, writers and famous journalists.

9. Molly's Shebeen- 287 Third Ave. New York, NY

They call themselves New York City's most "authentic" Irish pub. Check out Molly's Shebeen for solid beer and a harangue of loud, middle-aged men. It's worth it. Open until 11 p.m.

10. Whole Foods

If you are on your way to a cookout and forgot the hamburger meat and pasta salad, Whole Foods has got you. All of their locations in Manhattan are open today. Full list of locations here.
