David Cassidy is in some financial trouble.

The 64-year-old former "Partridge Family" star filed for bankruptcy protection, according to documents filed in Florida Wednesday and obtained by People Magazine. The actor stated he has "assets and debt of up to $10 million."

Cassidy, who has sold more than 30 million records, reportedly owes thousands of dollars in credit card debt and legal fees - including $21,952 to American Express and $17,150 to Citi in addition to $102,000 to a Florida-based lawyer.

He also took out a $292,598 personal line of credit from Wells Fargo. The Daily Mail reported that Cassidy also has a $292,598 mortgage against his house.

The actor released a statement to E! News saying, "I am going through bankruptcy proceedings at the moment. This is necessary for practical reasons to reorganize my life as I go through divorce and to restructure my finances."

Unfortunately, the 1970s teen heartthrob has had a rough couple of years. Last February, Cassidy's wife, Sue Cassidy, filed for divorce after 23 years of marriage. During that time, the actor was in rehab but insisted that it wasn't the reason behind the couple's split, claiming that the split had been "looming for some time."

In January 2014, Cassidy was arrested for drunken driving for the third time. He was also was previously arrested for drunk driving in August 2013 and November 2010. Cassidy was sentenced to three months in rehab and five-months probation.
