I'm of the mind that the world could always use more of the '60s, gentleman spy vibe. Oh, so here comes Guy Ritchie with "The Man from U.N.C.L.E," which has a shiny, new trailer starring both Superman and The Lone Ranger.

According to Entertainment Weekly, this new film will transplant the 1960s spy series to the big screen and boost the budget. Ritchie's version of the iconic TV show finds Henry Cavill as debonair CIA agent Napoleon Solo, who is forced to team up with former KGB enemy Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) in the United Network Command for Law Enforcement to take down a mysterious criminal organization bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through building and/or seizing control of a nuclear weapon. The team's only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.

Channeling the location-hopping style and slightly tongue-in-cheek feel of the show, this promises to see Cavill putting aside the heavy burden of Man of Steel's cape to have a little fun, and plenty of origin story tension between him and Hammer. With Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki, Jared Harris and Hugh Grant along for the ride, "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." hits theaters on August 14. And I made it through that whole piece without once mentioning T.H.R.U.S.H. Kudos to me for my restraint...
