Police on Long Island, New York, are looking for a not-so-clever thief who was caught on surveillance camera stealing the camera.

The unidentified suspect was seen on a surveillance camera outside a motel in Port Jefferson in Oct. 2014, LongIsland.com reported.

Surveillance images show a man- in broad daylight- fumbling with the camera placed up high outside the Heritage Motel on Oct. 9. He fled the scene with the camera in a white Chevy pickup truck attached to a landscaping trailer, Suffolk County police said. A male passenger was also in the car.

Suffolk County police are offering a $5,000 cash reward for information leading to the alleged camera thief.
