DVDs/Blu-ray Releases

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (Walt Disney Studios)

Disney brings to life Judith Viorst's popularchildren's book. For 12 years, Alexander has lived one bad day after another while he watches the rest of his family enjoy a seemingly perfect life.

At midnight on his birthday, he wishes for his family to experience a little taste of what he feels every day. His wish will have unintended consequences that could spell doom for his father, mother and three siblings.

Ed Oxenbould plays the titular Alexander. Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner star as his parents.

Special features on the Blu-Ray/DVD include bloopers, a behind-the-scenes look with star Oxenbould, and a making-of the Australian Outback party scene. Author Viorst and her son (the real Alexander) also explain how the book changed their lives.

Rosewater (Universal Studios)
Jon Stewart has left "The Daily Show" before and things worked out pretty well for all parties involved. Interim host John Oliver got his own show on HBO and Stewart made his directorial debut on "Rosewater."

The comedian spent three months in Jordan filming this true story about Iranian-Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari, who Iranian forces interrogated for 118 days under suspicion he was a spy. Stewart had invited Bahari on his program before his arrest and his Iranian captors claimed footage of him during that "Daily Show" appearance proved he was working with the American government and the CIA.

Gael Garcia Bernal stars as the journalist who was blindfolded and brutally interrogated for four months at Evin Prison. The only distinguishable trait Bahari could identify about his interrogator was that he smelled like rosewater.

Special features on the Blu-Ray/DVD include a conversation with Stewart, the story of Maziar Bahari, a spotlight on the controversial 2009 Iran presidential election and more.

Nurse Jackie: Season 6 (Lionsgate)
The pill-popping nurse has fallen off the wagon again to start the sixth season of the Showtime comedy starring Edie Falco. Her descent back into drugs soon alienates her from those she cares about most.

Falco received her fourth Golden Globe and fifth Emmy award for her leading role in this latest season.

Special features on the Blu-Ray/DVD include deleted scenes, audio commentaries with cast and crew, a spotlight on "Growing Up Peyton" and a featurette on Jackie's return to drugs.

Game of Thrones: Season 4

The fourth season of the HBO fantasy drama adapted its story from the second half of George R.R. Martin's "A Storm of Swords," as well as "A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance with Dragons."

The show returned with a bang, quickly killing off another substantial character that blew up Twitter with the hashtag, #WhoKilledJoffrey. Tyrion Lannister soon comes under suspicion for committing the murder and struggles to prove his innocence through much of the season.

Other storylines include the Stark children setting their own course, the impending attack at The Wall and Daenerys Targaryen biding her time as the ruler of Meereen in Slaver's Bay before returning to Westeros.

iTunes has the entire season available for purchase on Feb. 15.

Sense and Sensibility (1995)
This adaptation of the Jane Austen novel is a who's who of great English actors in the last 20 years. It's also considered one of the film adaptations of Austen's work that spurred many more retellings of her other novels.

Emma Thompson wrote the screenplay and starred as Elinor Dashwood. Kate Winslet played her younger sister Marianne. Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman play their male suitors who will give the women financial security when the Dashwood family loses their wealth.

The movie garnered seven Oscar nominations including Best Adapted Screenplay for the first-time screenwriter Thompson, which she won. She's the only person to win Academy Awards for both acting and writing.

Amazon has the film available for streaming on Feb. 12.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman

Mr. Peabody lists his accomplishments as businessman, inventor, scientist, two-time Olympic champion who just happens to be a dog. He has an adopted son Sherman who he travels back in time with to experience some of the biggest moments in history.

Unfortunately, Sherman will disregard the rules for time travel and send history, as we know it, into disarray. The two must work together to reset the course.

Ty Burrell ("Modern Family") voices the intelligent canine and Max Charles voices his adopted human son. Stephen Colbert, Allison Janney, Stephen Tobolowsky, Dennis Haysbert and Leslie Mann also add their voice talents to the animated film.

FASHION & BEAUTY

By Oulimata Ba

For this week's Coveted I've gathered a few top bath and body products for the lover in your life – the soap lover, bubble bath lover and anyone else who loves a spa day at home.

For the bubble bath lover: Soak and bask in sudsy splendor with this Coquito bubble bath from Honeycat Cosmetics made with honey, coconut, shea butter, milk and rum.

Honeycat, which uses a cat symbol to invoke femininity and sexuality, also has other bath products with tempting themes, including a collection for Vampire Lovers and a shower gel that smells like red wine.

For the soap lover: I bought one of Beekman's COPA soap bars in Lavender at New York City's Feast of San Gennaro last fall and have not stopped pining over it since. What sets it apart from other natural, handmade soaps is the rich, bubbly lather - it's a spa experience in the shower unlike any other, with a bouquet of lavender, honey and shea butter wafting from the soap.

COPA (coconut, olive, palm and almond) soaps, $4, are made with cold-pressed oils and fruit, which is important because it preserves the nutritional value of the ingredients. Other scents include cider, cocoa tea tree, sage and bay rum.

For the body scrub lover: Not only do I love Soap & Glory's enticingly pink packaging, but its Flake Away Body Polish with seat salt and peach seed powder has saved me by exfoliating my dull, dry skin during many a pre-night-out ritual.

The $25 sugar-based body polish is paraben-free and has Soap & Glory's traditional fragrance with strawberries, gardenia blossoms, jasmine and peach.

For the body butter lover: I consider The Body Shop's Body Butters the ultimate affordable option for a boost in deep skin hydration if, like me, your skin is so dry you see scales. The Body Shop's butters have been around for a while, but it has new jumbo sizes and scents like Smoky Poppy and Wild Argan Oil for $20 and $36, respectively.
