Will the roguish charms of John Constantine win out and allow him to fight another day? Well, that still remains to be seen, but it doesn't look good.

In the network's list of series renewals for the 2015-2016 television season, NBC listed that several of its current shows would come back for another installment. Unfortunately, DC's British mage was not among them.

Now, this isn't exactly the end of the line for "Constantine" just yet. The press release only lists renewals for highly successful programs, like "The Blacklist," "Grimm" and "Law and Order." With strong ratings to fall back on, NBC most likely feels confident enough to announce renewals for those shows early in the year. For an untested series like "Constantine," NBC is probably still waiting to see if future ratings will justify a second season. It's likely that they want the first season to reach its conclusion before making the final call.

The show's future has remained in doubt since November last year, when NBC decided not to order the second half of "Constantine's" premiere season. NBC tried improving the show's odds of renewal by moving the second half of the season from 10:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Fridays, though they've yet to say if the experiment has been successful or not.

Expect final judgment on the series to come after the season finale on Friday, February 13...quite an apt date to decide the fate of a magical scoundrel of John Constantine's caliber.

The next episode of "Constantine" airs this Friday, February 6, at 8:00 p.m. on NBC. Thanks to Blastr for the heads up.
