"Fifty Shades of Grey" starring David Gandy . . . how does that sound?

Although model and actor Jamie Dornan will be starring in the highly anticipated film - due out next week, the role of Christian Grey was offered to several actors before Dornan, including Gandy, a well-known British male model.

In an interview with Square Mile, Gandy revealed that he was given the chance to play Christian Grey, but turned down the offer. The 34-year-old model also shared that he had been offered roles in several blockbuster movies, but the parts didn't feel right to him.

"I was offered Fifty Shades of Grey, 300: Rise of an Empire, Hercules, which a lot of people probably would have taken as actors but I'm in the fortunate position where I like what I'm doing. I don't feel the need to act," Gandy told Square Mile, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

So, when offered the role of Christian Grey, Gandy said, "It just didn't feel right, in any way. And in my gut, it felt right to say no."

Gandy is best known for his underwear campaigns and has recently decided to buy men's shoe brand David Preston, but the model hasn't completely ruled out the idea of someday hitting the big screen - he's just waiting on the right role.

"I know if you're in a successful film, your status changes overnight," he said. "And I'm not saying I wouldn't, I've read many parts that I'd love to play, things that I've chosen, though, not things that've been sent. Critics and literary experts aren't fans [of Fifty Shades of Grey] but I respect it for what it is... Sometimes it's about what you say no to, as opposed to what you say yes to that can lead to success."

"Fifty Shades of Grey," starring Dornan and Dakota Johnson, hits theaters on Feb. 13.
