A 41-year-old Ohio man has been hospitalized for ripping part of his penis after he took hallucinogenic mushrooms in Michigan's Ypsilanti Township, according to the police. The incident occurred about 1 a.m. last Tuesday outside the Ypsilanti Middle School

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's deputies responded to a burglar alarm, according to Sergeant Geoff Fox's statement Monday and found the man outside the school, screaming in pain with part of his genitals ripped off. His lower waist was covered in blood, Fox said.

"He really wasn't saying much at all - a lot of yelling and screaming," Fox said, the Detroit Free Press reported. "He wasn't making sense. They couldn't really communicate with him in terms of constructive conversation." Fox added that the man had broken a window but nothing was taken. An ambulance was called immediately and the medics took the man to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. The victim was later transferred to the University of Michigan Health System where he was currently being treated, according to WCSO spokesman Derrick Jackson.

The Ohion later admitted that he picked up some hallucinogenic mushrooms earlier that day. He told the sheriffs that he was visiting some friends in the neighborhood of the school.

Fox added that the man had no prior history of mental problems or extensive drug use. The police were awaiting toxicology results of his blood samples to determine if the mushrooms were mixed with something.
