This isn't the first time "Gotham" has promised us the Joker, but this time it sounds like they really mean it. When "Gotham" was set to premiere, we were told that there would be little hints about Batman's arch-nemesis eventually. Well, is seems that "eventually" is finally upon us.

"We've said you're going to be waiting a bit longer for it, but this is America... nobody wants to wait," said Gotham Executive Producer Bruno Heller to TV Guide.com. "So, we will scratch the surface of that story, yes. But just scratch it...a little tap on the door."

This news comes not all that long after reports that "Gotham" would also introduce the Red Hood and his gang. In the majority of Joker origin stories, the Red Hood was Joker's pre-"Jester of Genocide" identity. That "little tap on the door" probably doesn't mean too much with the season approaching its conclusion. The main focus of this year's bad guy shenanigans has been on the Penguin, and he'll probably remain the show's primary focus...as well he should because he's (still) the best thing on it by far.

"Gotham" has played fast and loose with early versions of other villains too. We met Black Mask's father in one episode, and this week's installment, "The Fearsome Dr. Crane" is about the Scarecrow's father. There are many ways the Red Hood story can be tossed and turned long before the producers go down the Joker route, and that will (hopefully) make for some interesting viewing, going forward into the next season.
