The Denver Broncos replaced one strong head coach in John Fox with another one in Gary Kubiak.

Swapping out veteran NFL coaches aside, it remains to be seen if other changes are in store for the uber-talented, but frustratingly ineffective - in the postseason, at least - Broncos franchise.

One major question mark that hasn't yet resolved itself is the future of quarterback Peyton Manning.

Manning, who said late in the season that he had every intention of returning to the NFL and Denver for next year, sounded a different tone after the unexpected - or expected, depending on your view of recent NFL and, more accurately, Manning's history - first-round playoff loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Now, after taking some time after the season to think about it, Manning has decided - that he needs more time to decide.

"I haven't made a decision yet," Manning said, according to ESPN. "I still want to take some time to evaluate some things, to talk to some people. Obviously the Broncos have been quite busy hiring a staff, I have had some dialogue with Coach (Gary) Kubiak and did have a chance (to) see him in person."

Manning, who finished last season with 4,727 yards and 39 touchdowns passing, said he met his new coach on Wednesday, something he indicated was most just so the two men could get to know each other.

"I'm not interested in making this a lingering thing, I'd like to make a decision soon. But at the same time, you know, both Coach (Kubiak), (Broncos CEO) Joe (Ellis) and John (Elway) have instructed me to take some time, so I'm kind of following their orders."

The important date for Elway and the Broncos' decision-makers has become March 9, when Manning's $19 million salary for 2015 becomes guaranteed if he's on the roster.

Manning, who must undergo a medical checkup on his surgically repaired neck, won't have the medical appointment until sometime within the first 10 days of the league year - which starts March 10.
