Authorities in Connecticut arrested a second man in connection to former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez and the murder of Odin Lloyd, the Associated Press reports.

Carlos Ortiz, 27, was arrested on Wednesday in Hernandez's hometown of Bristol, Conn.  He's charged as a fugitive from justice and chose to waive extradition to Massachusetts, according to Britain State's Attorney Brian Preleski.

Ortiz is being held on $1.5 million bail in a Hartford jail.

Preleski said the arrest was result of prosecutors and Bristol police assisting Massachusetts authorities in the investigation of the murder of Odin Lloyd.  Preleski and other officials declined to release the specific allegations against Ortiz.

Ortiz is due back in court on July 23.

Prosecutors alleged during Hernandez's arraignment on Wednesday that the former NFL player sent text messages to out-of-state friends to meet with him on the night of Lloyd's murder.  Two text messages sent to a friend in Connecticut said "get your ass up here" and "Hurry your ass up," according to Yahoo! Sports.

Surveillance video later shows Hernandez, Lloyd and two other men together hours before investigators believe Lloyd was murdered, according to ABC News.

Hernandez was charged on Wednesday with murder and five other gun-related charges.  He's currently being held without bail.

A report on Thursday claimed that Boston police are investigating a possible connection between Hernandez and a 2012 unsolved double homicide in Boston.
