Got $15 million? You could be the next owner of British actor Rowan Atkinson's purple McLaren F1 "supercar" that he famously crashed into a tree in 2011

Atkinson, popularly known to Americans as Mr. Bean from the British television comedy, is ready to sell his car that can drive up to 240 miles per hour and has about 41,000 miles on it.

"[It's] time for it to be enjoyed by someone else, having bought it new nearly two decades ago," Atkinson told The Independent of his car. "I bought it for the quality of the thinking that went into its design, and now it has become a thing of value, it is time for it to be enjoyed by someone else."

In 2011 when Atkinson crashed into a tree and lamp post it took nearly a year for mechanics to fix it. The repair job cost 910,000 British pounds (about $1.4 million) - a price so high that it was regarded a UK record.

Atkinson paid 640,000 British pounds for the car in 1997, but fixed the car for 40 percent more than that price because the value has since soared. (NPR reported that an "immaculate model" sold for 3.5 million pounds last year.)

Once Atkinson got his McLaren F1 back in his hands he immediately did the only thing that seemed fit to him - he drove it.

"It depresses me that they are hidden away like investment art or gold. It is a crime not to use it," Atkinson told BBC's Top Gear.

Experts say the car should attract offers at about 10 million pounds, The Independent reported.
