Eager to introduce more diversity into their lineup of Galaxy S4 smartphones, Samsung unveiled an LTE Advanced version of its Galaxy S4 flagship phone that can provide double the speed of the previous 4G LTE version.

According to PC Mag, the upgraded 4G LTE Advanced is a step up from the regular networks, which carriers are still trying to roll out across the board. However, when they do make the switch to LTE Advanced, the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A will be able to take advantage of the higher network speeds.

As it rolls out, the Galaxy 4G LTE-A will only be available in Korea starting this summer but is expected to become available internationally at some point. It comes in blue arctic or red aurora.

"Samsung maintains a unique position for delivering LTE innovations as a provider of the parts, devices, and equipment required to deliver next-generation 4G LTE services," Samsung co-CEO JK Shin said in a statement. "The introduction of the Galaxy S4 LTE-A demonstrates Samsung's desire and ability to provide consumers with technological innovations that take advantage of increased network speeds to deliver richer and fuller experiences."

The new smartphone from Samsung has the same external look as its predecessor. Inside, the LTE-A runs a 2.3-GHz, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, all giving it that extra speed. Meanwhile, the original S4 runs a 1.6-GHz Samsung Exynos 5 Octa or a 1.9-GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro, depending on where it is being sold.

The Galaxy S4 LTE-A comes with a with a 5-inch Super AMOLED display. The phone runs Android 4.2.2 with a 32GB of internal memory, however, the user only has access to 24GB. The micro SD slot available on the smartphone can expand the phone's memory to 64GB. In addition to all of these specifications, the newest model comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Galaxy S4 LTE Advanced will join the Galaxy Mini, The Galaxy S4 Active and the Galaxy S4 Zoom as the newest addition to the Galaxy smartphone family.
