A violent and terrifying home invasion was caught on nanny cam in Millburn, N.J., which shows a young mother being brutally beaten by a burglar in front of her 3-year-old daughter.

The home invasion was captured by a nanny cam that was situated on a mantel piece. The video shows the mother moving towards the window in the lounge as her 3-year-old sat on the sofa watching cartoons. Suddenly, a hefty man hurls himself through the window, flings the woman onto the sofa next to the girl and starts beating her.

He moves away from her, telling her to "get up" as he makes his way up the stairs. An 18-month-old toddler lies asleep upstairs but thankfully, he is unharmed. The man comes back downstairs and continues to viciously beat the mother, slamming her head against the wall and holding her in a choke position. He eventually drags her out the room and throws her like a rag doll, down the stairs to the basement and shuts the door. He then exists the home through the front door.

All throughout this terrifying ordeal, an eerie quiet looms through the home. In an interview with CBS 2 news, the mother said she did not want to scream so she wouldn't alarm her children, fearing they may also become his victims.

Police say the hefty black male, who had a salt-and-pepper beard, took off with an undetermined amount of jewelry following the 10:30 a.m. attack Friday in Millburn. The man did get away with several pieces of jewelry. The mother spent a day in the hospital and suffered a concussion, but was expected to make a full recovery.

Police hope the video will be critical in arresting the man.

"This can happen to anyone," the victim said, "and you know what? If he can break my door down, he's going to break your door down."
