Oreo is releasing its limited edition red velvet cookie just in time for Valentine's Day.

This new flavor of limited edition Oreos will be the first time the cookie changed colors since the Golden Oreo debuted in 2004.

The red velvet Oreo will be a red cookie with a cream cheese filling.

"It's something that's classic, but I think what people have done in the last several years is reinterpret it," said Janda Lukin, senior director of Oreo North America, a unit of Deerfield-based Mondelez International.

The red velvet flavor has been around for years, but this is the first time a brand tries out the flavor in a cookie, reported Chicago Tribune.

Oreo-enthusiasts couldn't be more excited to hear the news:

The red velvet Oreos are set to hit stores on Feb. 2. The company suggests for them to be sold at $4.49 a package. They won't be here for long, though! Oreo said the limited edition cookies will be stocked on shelves for six to eight weeks or until the packages run out.
