The Chicago Bears hired John Fox last week to be the team's new head coach. Now the next step is finding him some coordinators to work with.

Fox has to be extra careful when selecting a new offensive coordinator. Whoever has filled that role in recent seasons has failed to produce the necessary results to keep their head coach's job.

"Failure to resolve issues around the offensive coordinator doomed Lovie Smith and in part Marc Trestman," John Mullin of CSNChicago.com wrote. "...It's on offense where the concern lies."

New general manager Ryan Pace is said to be prepared to work closely with whoever is hired as offensive coordinator to help quarterback Jay Cutler succeed. It is also rumored that if Cutler continues to struggle, Pace won't hesitate to move on from him.

"And if Cutler doesn't work out, the expectation is that Pace will have more in the quarterback pipeline than just David Fales for that coordinator to mold and develop," Mullin wrote.

Adam Gase, Kyle Shanahan, Greg Knabb and even Mike Shanahan have all been mentioned as possible candidates for the open offensive coordinator position in Chicago. As surprising as it would be, the two-time Super Bowl winning elder Shanahan would make a lot of sense as he drafted Cutler when both were in Denver, and the QB enjoyed his only Pro Bowl season under him.

Pat Kirwan of CBSSports.com said last week that Chicago's next OC "needs to be very mature with lot of credibility, (someone) that's already done it before."
