'X-Men: Apocalypse': No Patrick Stewart as Professor X or Ian McKellan as Magento? (WATCH IT)

This is news that makes me a bit sad and/or anxious for the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse," as it seems neither of the Sirs, Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellan, will be making an appearance in the newest X-Flick.

A post over at ComicBook.com is citing an interview Stewart did with Larry King who, quite frankly, I didn't realize was still among the living...let alone conducting interviews. In the course of their exchange, King asked Stewart if he'll be appearing in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse." Stewart's response was: "No. Nor Sir Ian McKellen, either."

It's been known for some time that Singer is looking at younger actors to play Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey because the majority of the film is supposed to be set in the 80s, though it seems to be a rather odd choice to eliminate Stewart's Professor X and McKellen's Magneto since the duo have appeared in every "X-Men" film 20th Century Fox have produced, with the exception of Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class."

"I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters," Stewart added. "And so, I don't think we'll be making an appearance."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will hit theaters on May 27, 2016. Check out the video clip of Stewart's interview below:
