Take this one from the "Hollywood Actor Ego" file: Yesterday it was reported that Tom Hardy dropped out of David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" due to the always convenient "scheduling conflict" excuse. But it seems that's not the real reason ol' Tommy-boy left. According to the Latino-Review, the truth behind Hardy's quick egress was due to the fact that he didn't like the final script of the film.

What didn't he like, you ask? Apparently, Deadshot and The Joker were given more screen time than some of the other villains in the story like Rick Flagg, which was the character Hardy was supposed to play. Let's think about this for a moment: Deadshot is being played by Will Smith...one of the biggest box office draws in the world. And the Joker, one of the most recognizable villains in the world, is being played by Oscar winner Jared Leto. Yeah, I can see why the script might be "tweaked" a bit to accommodate those two rather than Hardy.

Regardless, this film is the definition of an ensemble piece. Ayer's last film, "Fury," was an ensemble piece as well, and he did a great job balancing all of the characters and/or actors in that film. I'd imagine he'd be able to do the same thing with "Suicide Squad," and that's why he was hired to helm this production. Hardy obviously thought differently.

Jake Gyllenhaal is the actor rumored to be replacing Hardy as Rick Flagg. If he gets the part, he will join the aforementioned Smith and Leto along with Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), and Cara Delevigne (Enchantress).

"Suicide Squad" is slated to be released on August 5, 2016.
