A New Jersey man has been charged in the death of his wife who was last seen at a restaurant New Year's Eve, Burlington County prosecutors said Tuesday.

Kyle Crosby, 28, was apprehended Monday in Brooklawn, New Jersey, while running away from his missing wife's red Ford Taurus, according to NBC 10. He was found driving the vehicle during a traffic stop and later arrested when he tried to flee on foot.

Police say Crosby, of Mount Laurel, was seen with his 26-year-old wife Erica Crippen Crosby at a restaurant in Cherry Hill on Dec. 31 before she disappeared. The husband reported his wife missing to her family the next day, her relatives said.

Erica Crippen's body has not yet been found.

Kyle Crosby, who has a record of assault and drug charges, vanished a few days later when police questioned him during an initial investigation into his wife's disappearance. His phone was later disconnected and he did not show up for work.

Relatives of the wife, a mother of two, searched their Mount Laurel home and found she left without her keys, bag or coat.

"It's not like Erica to just walk out of the house and leave her kids," Sonay Ramos-Kellam, the missing woman's cousin, told NBC 10.

"The shower curtain is missing, the sheets from the bed are missing," Barbara Kellam, another cousin, told the station.

The couple was married less than a year and together have a 3-month-old daughter, his wife's family said.

Crosby was ordered held on $1 million bail, according to NBC 10. He also faces a child endangerment charge after his 7-year-old stepdaughter, Erica's daughter, missed school on Jan. 7. The husband filed a missing persons report for Erica that same day.
