A short documentary film titled "High Hopes," which focuses on the Bedouins' plight in Israel, features a Pink Floyd song of the same name.

The 14-minute film is described thusly at Indieflixx.com, where you can stream the movie for $1.99:

"In 1997-98 Bedouin refugees under Occupation were forcibly displaced by Israel to a garbage dump. At this time the Oslo Peace Process was ongoing with 'high hopes' for peace. Forced ethnic transfer of Bedouin refugees for settlement expansion threaten up to 12,500 by newly published 'Nuweimeh Plan.'"

The piece, directed by Israeli Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Guy Davidi, "follows the success of 'Nowhere Left to Go,' another film by the Jahalin Association, a group defending the rights of Bedouins from the Jahalin tribe," according to The Electronic Intifada, "an independent online news publication and educational resource focusing on Palestine, its people, politics, culture and place in the world."

"High Hopes" will be shown at the London Short Film Festival on Sunday, Jan. 18., and was named "best documentary short" at the Erie International Film festival, according to the EI.

"High Hopes" is the final song on Pink Floyd's 1994 album "The Division Bell." The EI notes that "Nowhere Left To Go" also has a Floyd connection, with the band's former vocalist/bassist Roger Waters having contributed music to that film.
