Virtual reality was a big focus for CES 2015 with the debut of the GCS3 Gamecaster VR headset that its creators call the "Oculus Killer."

The 3DHead game system comes in the form of a large head-mounted display, and is designed to show virtual worlds in 3D with a technology that runs just about anything into an artificial 3D, producing a similar effect to the Nintendo 3DS and other handheld 3D devices, according to Discovery News.

This technique is different from that used by the Oculus Rift and other popular VR headsets, which involves splitting the image between the user's eyes.

The GCS3 works with an Android tablet that is placed inside and sits at the far end of the helmet, about half a foot away from the user's face, Gizmodo reported. This approach is also different from Google Cardboard and Gear VR, which put the display extremely close to the user's face.

The headset's virtual world will allow users to stream games from their PC and watch movies via Wi-Fi, as well as play Android games right on the tablet.

You can get the GCS3 headset now at 3DHead's website for $999. The controller comes with the same price, and you can buy the whole package for $1,899.
