A photograph purported to be Malia Obama wearing a shirt with the rap collective Pro Era's name on it mysteriously appeared on Instagram Sunday night.

The image, if it is of the First Daughter, would be a rarity since her mother Michelle Obama has been outspoken about limiting her daughters' exposure to social media.

It's not yet clear who uploaded the photo, but it was quickly added to New York City-based Pro Era's Instagram account, according to Gawker.

"Malia Obama rocking that classic Pro Era tee! Make sure you get your official Pro Era gear from theproera.com!" reads Proera47's caption accompanying the picture, which allegedly shows the president's eldest daughter in a white T-shirt with her arms behind her head.

A representative for Pro Era member Joey Bada$$ told Gawker the group got the image from "a mutual friend of Malia and the pro era member."

The image, which doesn't appear altered, could be the first leaked Instagram photo of President Barack Obama's family, The Verge pointed out.

Malia's access to Facebook is restricted, while her younger sister Sasha isn't allowed on the site at all, Michelle Obama said in a 2013 interview with Barbara Walters.

"I still am not a big believer in Facebook for young people ... particularly for them, because they're in the public eye," Mrs. Obama said. "Some of it's stuff they don't need to see and be a part of ... So we try to protect them from too much of the public voice."

Gawker reached out to the White House for comment but as of Monday evening there was no response.
