The promoter of a New Year's Eve party at a swanky British golf resort was slammed for calling the event "hugely successful," even though six people were stabbed.

Police in Warwickshire, England, are investigating what caused the incident that resulted in six people being stabbed during Nude Nights' Wednesday party at the upscale Belfry golf resort, The Independent reported. At least three people were hospitalized and three others were arrested, including a 26-year-old Birmingham man and another 22-year-old.

Nude Nights released a Facebook statement calling the media "malicious" in its reporting of the event.

"There was an incident involving a mere fraction of those 1,500 people who attended resulting in us waking up to stories which have been entirely fabricated.

"Last night NUDE hosted a hugely successful event where over 1,500 people partied, socialized and saw in the new year in style making a great effort in their appearance," the statement continued. "Our brand stands for sexy and sophisticated clubbing and has always been tailored for the more sensible and mature club goer."

Facebook users zeroed in on the club promoter for its lack of remorse for the incident that left two victims in serious but stable condition early New Year's Day.

"I've just read the statement and it really shows to me that you're not actually bothered that someone got stabbed!?" Amelia Lucy wrote, according to The Independent.

Others, however, defended the New Year's bash and its promoters.

"Me and my friends attended Nude's event last night and were completely unaware of any incident," wrote Lisa Rebecca Curtis. "We had a brilliant night, loved every minute of it. Great place to see through a New Year."

Police are still not entirely sure what led to the stabbings and the investigation is ongoing, Warwickshire investigators told the newspaper. The 26-year-old was charged with grievous bodily harm and the 22-year-old was arrested for assault. Another 20-year-old man was arrested for violent disorder.

Belfry, also a hotel, is known for hosting professional golf tournaments like the Ryder Cup. It's marketing director, Gail Webb, told The Independent that Belfry is currently unable to comment.

"We cannot make a full statement at this time, as the police inquiry is ongoing, but we are assisting the police in any way we can," Webb said.
