A Massachusetts woman wrote the number "666" all over a local church building and then attacked a cop with a crucifix before she was finally arrested, police told MyFoxBoston.

Amarellis Cermeno allegedly defaced Haverhill-based La Iglesia Bibilca Bautista on Tuesday by writing "666," a number associated with the devil, several times in black marker.

Witnesses took a picture of the 54-year-old, who had a crucifix in her possession, and notified Haverhill police.

Police caught up with the suspect later Tuesday but she allegedly tried striking one of the detectives with a crucifix that turned out to be stolen from a nativity scene at a nearby church, MyFoxBoston reported.

The church where Cermeno allegedly stole the cross, Sacred Hearts Church, is the same church where a baby Jesus statue was stolen from the nativity scene last Friday.

A pig's head was put in place of the Jesus statue. It's unclear if Cermeno had anything to do with the statue theft or the pig's head at this stage of the investigation, which Haverhill police said is still open.

Cermeno was arrested and charged with destruction of a place of worship, malicious destruction of property over $250 and assault with a dangerous weapon among other charges.

She is expected to appear in Haverhill District Court on Wednesday for arraignment, the station reported.
