We're still reeling from Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello's surprise engagement, but did another Hollywood couple's big news go under the radar? According to the Daily Mail, Sean Penn popped the question to girlfriend Charlize Theron in Paris at the end of November.

The site claims that sources close to the couple told US Weekly that Penn asked the "Snow White and the Huntsman" actress to "take their relationship to the next level."

"There's no ring, but they are committed," the source told US.

The pair, who first started dating in December 2013, first sparked engagement rumors in July when Theron was spotted walking through Los Angeles International Airport with a shiny diamond ring on her finger. At the time, a source close to the actress told US that she was not engaged and she bought the stunning ring herself.

If the current engagement rumors are true, this would be the first marriage for Theron and the third for Penn. He was previously wed to Madonna in the 1980s and actress Robin Wright, with whom he shares two kids.

In the June issue of Vogue, Theron opened up about her romance with Penn and said it was "effortless."

"Sean and I have known each other for 18 years," she previously told Vogue. "We were just really good friends and it's been slow going because you are aware that you could screw that up and lose it. We had to think about it. But at the end of the day, it was somewhat effortless."

"It kind of naturally happened, and before I knew it, I was in something that was making my life better - the people who really love me can see the effect it has had on me," Theron added.
