A newborn was found dead in the woods just outside of Eagle Creek Park in Indiana, WISHTV reported on Monday.

A 911 caller said a baby girl was discovered with a blue sweatshirt wrapped around her on Wilson Road. The caller had been hiking and came upon the child.

The baby was found about 30 yards from the park's parking lot and was pronounced dead when authorities arrived. She was born about a day ago, according to detectives, but others said it appeared that she may have been born at the scene.

The sweatshirt she was wrapped in has an "Aviation Maintenance Vincennes University-Indianapolis" logo.

Under Indiana's Safe Haven Infant Protection Act, parents are able to drop off an unwanted baby that's less than a month old anonymously without fear of arrest at an emergency room, police station or fire station across the state, Fox 59 reported.
