Apple is continuing its New Year's Eve tradition in Japan of selling "Lucky Bags" containing unknown items at large discounts in its brick-and-mortar retail stores there.

These bags, or fukubukuros, are a common New Year's Eve custom in Japan that a variety of retailers get involved in, offering grab bags for a set price without the customer knowing what's inside, according to PC Magazine.

However, customers always have a chance to get something interesting, with last year's $345 Lucky Bag being offered in four variations and including an 11-inch MacBook Air, an iPad Air, Beats Pill Speakers and Apple Magic Mouse.

Other items offered in last year's Apple Lucky Bag include the Nike+ FuelBand SE, Squad Reader and JayBird BlueBuds X headphones, and each variation came with a commemorative T-shirt, backpack and Mophie Juice Pack Powerstation Mini, Digital Trends reported. While everyone going to the Cupertino, Calif.-based tech giant's stores might not get what they wanted, they are guaranteed to get something worth their money.

Apple's policies regarding Lucky Bag purchases state that customers can only get one bag for each purchase, and that they can only buy their bags at the company's retail stores. Prices are non-negotiable, and customers can only return or exchange their Lucky Bags if the products are defective.

The Lucky Bags will be available in Japan starting Jan. 2 at 8.a.m, while the rest of the world will miss out on this fun grab-bag event.
