Lizard Squad, the group that claimed responsibility in hacking Xbox Live and PlayStation Network on Christmas Day, announced on Sunday that it will no longer attack the online stores. The group also denied hacking Tor.

Both online gaming stores are now fully restored after the hack. The outage prevented users from registering a new account, playing with other gamers and accessing streaming services. First-time gamers and their parents who gave them the gaming consoles were disappointed in the incident.

The Lizard Group claimed responsibility for the outage and said that they hacked the online stores so that the public would be aware of the weakness of cyber security.

After being offered vouchers by Internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom to stop the attack, the group confirmed the ceasefire in an interview with a YouTube show DramaAlert, according to VentureBeat.

"So basically, you're not going to be attacking Xbox and PlayStation anymore, Lizard Squad, correct?" YouTube show DramaAlert asked the group.

"That's correct," Lizard Group replied.

Aside from the ceasefire announcement, the group denied its plans to attack the anonymity website Tor.

"There was never an attack on Tor. We created about 3,000 Tor exit nodes and connected them to the Tor network. After we did that, we had several people accuse us of attacking Tor," a member said.

But some security experts are not convinced that the Lizard Group is giving up on the Tor Project. The announcement contradicted an earlier tweet from the group: "Hi, do you guys still give away shirts for relay owners? We need about 3000."

Nadim Kobeissi, a security researcher and developer of Cryptocat, looked at the relays of Tor and found that it is flooded with LizardNSA.

"Currently, there's actually almost 10,000 relays, about 3,000 to 6,000 of those seem to be Lizard Squad's," he said in an email to The Verge.

Kobeissi added that the only thing preventing Lizard Group from successfully getting in the Tor network is the insufficient consensus with the system and the low bandwidth allowance.
