The holidays can be a stressful time of year. Add travel plans to the equation and frustrations can boil over. Two passengers struggled so much to keep their emotions in check while flying on Christmas Day that they caused delays and diversion for their respective flights.

One man on a flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles had his plane diverted to Albuquerque, N.M., after making threats in the air, according to Mashable. Delta Air Lines Flight 81 landed at Albuquerque International Sunport a little after 6 p.m. and the unruly passenger was arrested.

Police did not charge the man, but the FBI was called as standard procedure. Daniel Jiron, a spokesman for the airport, told Mashable he did not know the specifics of the threats made.

The flight finally landed in Los Angeles at 8:18 p.m. PST, two hours after the scheduled arrival time.

At LaGuardia Airport in New York City, a passenger grew so annoyed with hearing the "Merry Christmas" greeting that he was pulled off the plane before takeoff.

The man on American Airlines Flight 1140 started an argument with three flight attendants that welcomed him with the holiday greeting, according to the New York Post. His frustration began with the woman checking boarding passes at the gate.

"You shouldn't say that because not everyone celebrates Christmas," he told her when she greeted him.

She replied, "Well, what should I say then?"

"Don't say 'Merry Christmas!'" he reportedly shouted at her before boarding.

Once seated on the plane, another flight attendant also wished him a "Merry Christmas" and set him off again. He argued with the other attendants and pilot, who all tried to calm him down, until they had to escort him off the plane.

His fellow passengers cheered and applauded as he made his way off the plane.
