The movies will be based off the upcoming trilogy "Queen of the Tearing" by Erika Johansen. Watson is said to play 19-year-old Glynn who attempts to get back the Tearing, her late mother's kingdom, from the evil Red Queen.

According to The Guardian, the series is being described as "a female fantasy version" of George RR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" which has been turned into the "Game of Thrones" on HBO.

The books have not yet been published with the first book set to be released in 2014. According to a press release, Harper Collins will publish the books. The series is said to be set centuries after an environmental catastrophe.

Watson recently starred in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and is currently starring in the "Bling Ring" as a celebrity-obsessed teenager. She will also appear in the dark-comedy by Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg called "This is the End," about the apocalypse.

According to Good Reads, Johansen signed a seven-figure book deal with Harper Collins. The author, 35, told the website that she was inspired by the idea to create Glynn after hearing a 2007 speech by then-Senator Barack Obama.
