Most women who are moms-to-be wear maternity clothes. Carrie Underwood doesn't. She doesn't like them at all, and the superstar is telling women who are pregnant (like her) that they don't have to wear maternity clothes either.

She says there are better alternatives.

"They're so hard for me to wear because there are so just so many that I don't like."

That's what she told InStyle last week at the New York launch of her Calia by Carrie fitness apparel line, sold exclusively at Dick's Sporting Goods starting in the spring.

"But the great thing about fashion right now is that there are so many items that are looser," she added. Which is exactly why she revealed she's been opting for baby doll dresses and baggy jackets that cover the baby bump in atypical maternity ways.

"I just want people to know you don't just have to wear maternity clothes because you're pregnant."

Underwood said she has specific clothes ready for when she doesn't feel like dressing up.

"There are some days when I really don't want to look chic and I don't and that's OK. It's all about finding a few things here and there that make you feel confident because you don't have to go into hiding just because you're pregnant."

She confessed that she has not been able to avoid wearing one particular type of maternity clothing ... jeans.

"I have the maternity ones," she admitted. "They're the one thing that you really can't wear normal when pregnant."

Pointing down to the pair she had on at the New York event, she said, "These happen to go up really high." She acknowledged that she wasn't happy about it.

The "Something In The Water" singer's new album "Greatest Hits: Decade #1" is available now.
