Microsoft has updated its Xim app to let you share your favorite photos from your smartphone on much bigger screens.

All you have to do is tap the in-app display icon, and you'll be able to show off your pictures on a television screen through a linked Xbox One, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, or Amazon Fire TV, according to PC Magazine. This luxury is available to anyone with an iOS, Android or Windows Phone device.

The update comes only two months after Xim made its debut with the goal of letting people share photos without having to hand their phone over to someone.

Users can now share photos with their friends on TVs as they would with their phones, and if a friend starts a session when you are paired with the streaming device at your house, he/she can control the images shown on the your screen, Engadget reported.

The new Xim also lets users update the app with more photos, and only one person needs to have the app for everyone included in the slideshow to participate, PC Magazine reported. Photos can be shared from Facebook, OneDrive, Dropbox, Instagram and other social networks.

Friends will be able to add their own photos and exchange messages with other participants. Storing phones isn't necessary since the pictures expire "after a little while."

David Chen from Microsoft announced the Xim update in a blog post, saying giving users the ability "to share pictures synchronously between mobile phones and living rooms opens the door to some pretty intriguing possibilities."

Those who want to share their favorite Facebook photos on their TVs can download the new Xim app now for free from the iTunes App Store, Google Play Store and Windows Phone Store.
