The Boston Bruins continue to pursue Buffalo Sabres power forward, Chris Stewart, but he's not the only player they're potentially interested in acquiring.

"The team that is really at the forefront right now is the Boston Bruins," Sportsnet.ca's Elliotte Friedman said on an episode of Calgary's Sportsnet 960 as transcribed by NicholsOnHockey.com. "I can't pin down - I mean, everybody knows they've been linked to Chris Stewart. I certainly was not the first guy to report that on Saturday night. And that is one of the things they're chasing. But the Bruins are trying to do something."

Stewart, when he's on his game, is a very effective presence and difficult to play against. This season, that has not been the case.

"The concern is he has really struggled ... really struggled," a league executive told Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun last week. "He's done it before but he's clearly not getting it done this year."

The Sabres, despite making Stewart a healthy scratch recently, won't drop their asking price. Which means teams like the Bruins may begin to look elsewhere for possible upgrades.

"Everybody is pointing at them as being one of the most active teams right now," Friedman continued. "They are looking for a power forward. They're looking at the Eastern Conference and they're saying, 'We can't wait too much longer.' I think they're having a lot of trouble doing it, but they are trying."

The Bruins are averaging 2.47 goals a game.

They're slow up the ice and lack forwards who know what to do with the puck once they're around the net. They're average offensively and rely too often on Tukka Rask to bail them out on a nightly basis.

With David Krejci still not healthy, the Bruins are in desperate need of forward help.
