South Africa's Rolene Strauss took home the title of Miss World 2014 on Sunday.

Strauss, 22, earned the honor at the international beauty pageant's ICC London grand finale - beating 121 women from countries around the world, reported E!

The beauty queen is a fourth-year medical student and the daughter of a doctor and nurse. She put her education on hold to compete for the Miss World title, although she told E! that education is very important to her.

"Everyone in my town called me little Dr. Strauss," she said to E!

Strauss told E! it was always her dream to win titles such as Miss World while also fulfilling her educational goals.

Once she was crowned Miss World, the contestants remaining on stage were accompanied by LMFAO who performed "Party Rock Anthem."

"Miss World 2014. Put your hands up, ya'll!" shouted LMFAO band member Sky Blu. "Put those hands up! Oh yeah! We love girls all around the world. All around the world, we love girls. I love ya'll."

Strauss' two runners up were Edina Kulcsár, of Hungary, and Elizabeth Safrit, of the United States.

Although a lot of excitement filled the air at the pageant's grand finale, the air was marred by the murder last month of Miss Honduras and her sister in that country.
