The Cleveland Cavaliers may have even more competition now to sign free agent Ray Allen.  Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers acknowledged his team had contacted Allen's representation to express interest in signing the 39-year-old veteran.

Add Golden State to the list of teams wanting to sign Allen.

"We threw our team out there at his representation, and I think they're vetting what they want to do," Myers said this week, according to the Oakland Tribune.  "Obviously you've got to look at a guy like that.  He's a smart enough guy.  He's going to look around the league to see what's best for him."

Golden State has a league-best 19-2 record, and it's been more than a month since they lost a game.  While the Warriors look like title contenders, Meyers admitted the roster - as currently constructed - doesn't have enough minutes available for Allen to make it worth the 2-guard's time.

"We don't have enough minutes as it is, so it's a question of chemistry, too," Meyers said.

Golden State joins the San Antonio Spurs, the Washington Wizards, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Chicago Bulls and the Cavaliers as teams purportedly trying to sign Allen this season.  Allen has yet to make a decision if he'll even return to the NBA for his 19th season, but all signs point to him coming back.

A report from ESPN this week indicated Allen would begin to listen seriously to offers in January and make a decision - and return - sometime in February.

"Hearing Ray Allen is telling teams 'talk to me in January," ESPN's Ryen Russillo tweeted Dec. 5, "(he) will make a decision in February.  Cavs still the favorite."
