The annual Forbes list of celebrity incomes is out, and there is one jaw-dropping surprise. The top earner smoked the other top five celebrities, including the always high-profile performer Beyonce.

The highest paid musician of 2014 is Dr. Dre, who raked in an impressive $620 million.

The hip-hop mogul's multiple business ventures have launched him to the top of the 2014 Forbes magazine list. The producer-musician's income this year is almost six times more than second-placed Beyonce, making it the widest gap in the famous list's history.

According to the editors' calculations, Dr. Dre's massive earnings came from his music and electronics company, Beats, which he co-founded in 2008 and sold to Apple this May for $3 billion.

Beyonce's 2014 earnings totalled $115 million, based on her December album, her solo tour and a joint trek with husband Jay Z, plus a variety of endorsement deals.

Also in the list's top five are three rockers --The Eagles, Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. They each made over $80 million, largely from touring revenue.
