I recently came across another cool, holiday gift idea for gamers that goes off the beaten path of either games or your typical, hum-drum peripherals. Sony has been selling HDD (hard drive disc) covers for the PS4 for some time in Japan, and the company just recently started selling them in North America. However, those covers may seem somewhat tacky to those who prefer the PS4's sleek and clean lines.

Dualshockers came across an item in Akihabara (the well-known Japanese shopping/electronics district) that is possibly the coolest way to modify a PS4 to date while keeping that "clean" aesthetic of the machine intact.

The Japanese manufacturer Cyber Gadget released a set of HDD covers in four transparent colors (red, blue, gray and clear), and when it is attached to your PS4, it gives an open view to the hard disk bay and the surrounding protective shield, giving the console an eye-catching, mechanical look.

The accessories, simply called "Scratch Guard Cover," are actually designed to make scratches and dirt less visible than on the original glossy cover.

While a western release has not been announced as of yet, it's possible to find the "Scratch Guard Covers" at retailers who have no issues shipping to the West, such as AmiAmi.
