Just like Carrie Underwood sang about in her smash "Jesus Take Wheel, " she and NHL-star husband Mike Fisher left the timing of her pregnancy up to a higher power.

The singer-songwriter revealed to Nashville's Tennessean newspaper that she and her husband did not plan her pregnancy. They preferred to "just let God handle" when she would become pregnant.

The couple first announced the pregnancy in September via social media, and Brad Paisley gushed out the news that Underwood's baby would be a boy to a national TV audience during the CMA Awards in early November.

Underwood confided that says she's been thinking about how having a baby will impact her career, "like anyone would be in the situation." But the "Something in the Water" singer declares she's not at all concerned. In fact, she says she already spoken to a tour bus company about building a custom bus specifically designed to accommodate her family, adding that she and Fisher "will make it work."

After their son gets older and starts school, Underwood says other plans will come into play. "Things will have to settle down as far as school and all of that," she explains, noting that she and Fisher are committed to working hard to give their boy a normal childhood.

Underwood released her first hits collection, "Greatest Hits: Decade #1," on Dec. 9 and, beyond the music, the baby is due early in 2015.

"We can't wait to meet the little guy," she says. "I was talking to Mike the other night and I was like, 'Do you love our baby?', and he was like, 'Of course.' And I said, 'Isn't it weird to think that you can love somebody you've never met?' The date is coming up ... and it's a whole new chapter."
