The ABC Family show "Pretty Little Liars" returns Tuesday night with a Christmas special that will be far from your usual holiday cheer. Creator Marlene King promised that it will be scary, spooky and will answer a lot of fan questions, People magazine reports.

She wouldn't say if any of the main characters will die on tonight's episode, but she did tease that the episode is crucial in order for the show's plot to continue. King also said that she's really looking forward to the sixth season.

"I love the upcoming season. It's very different for us. We see some sides to the show we've never seen before. We are moving forward at a more rapid pace now. We just finished shooting the finale, and I'll quote our director of photography when he said, 'We can't drop the ball on this one, it's by far our most important episode to date.' That is a very big, special episode."

Hmmm, it sounds like the season 6 finale could be the episode that "A" is revealed. King previously said that the big reveal would happen before the seventh season. King also confirmed that Spencer (played by Troian Bellisario) will be released from jail in the Christmas special and the Liars "are presented an opportunity that should clear her name."

As far as Alison (Sasha Pieterse) and her masked posse, King told People that all four girls will be revealed and fans might be surprised that they already know who they are.

"I will say that it is interesting to me that if you look at the masks, they look a lot like [the character] Spencer," she said. "It's interesting how they turned out. It is definitely Ali and a posse, and the reveal of those people is a really fun twist in the episode. You know all four of them."

Another surprise waiting for one pretty little liar in tonight's episode is Mona (Janel Parrish). Mona was murdered in the season 5 finale over the summer, but she returns as the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. She takes Ali down memory lane and also shows her what her fate could be if she doesn't change.

"That's one of the scariest scenes in the episode," King said. "She really shows Alison that if she doesn't change her ways a very, very frightening fate will be coming her way."
