Warning: This article contains spoilers for Sunday's episode of "Homeland."

A series-regular on "Homeland" had to say their good-byes on Sunday night's episode.  CIA analyst Fara Sherazi (Nazanin Boniadi) was killed after Haqqani seized control of the American embassy in Islamabad. Boniadi joined the Showtime drama last season to help the CIA trace bank statements back to Iran. Fara quickly became the voice of reason on the show.

Boniadi spoke to Entertainment Weekly following the episode and said that she found out about the death about three weeks before they filmed the scene.

"I got a call from [showrunner] Alex Gansa and we had just had our season premiere screening in Cape Town for the cast and crew and he told me he had difficult news for me but that the writers had decided to end Fara's journey, but in a very poetic way, I think," she said. "He explained to me the reasoning behind it and it all made sense. As actors it's always hard for us to hear that news, but in every case actors serve the story and when it makes sense to the story it is what it is and you go on."

Even though she understood, Boniadi said the news still caught her off guard.

"I went through two weeks of mourning. It was very foreign experience to me, I've never experienced that as an actor," she said. "I was a fan of a character, I had grown to love her, it was hard to let her go. To watch the episode tonight was very difficult."

According to EW, Boniadi has landed the female lead in the remake of "Ben Hur," but she said she can't talk about the role yet. Unfortunately for "Homeland" fans, this might not be the only death this season. Last month TV Line reported that a source close to production said "the show recently shot an elaborate funeral sequence at a chapel in Cape Town presumably to air in the season finale."

At the time it was suggested that the funeral was for Saul, Quinn, Haqqani or Lockhart.
