I think it's fair to say that this season has been a complete failure for the New York Jets. Former second-round pick Geno Smith hasn't developed into the franchise quarterback the Jets were hoping for. Michael Vick hasn't been able to stabilize the position. New York's secondary is completely full of holes. The Jets are just 2-11, and will miss out on the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.

All of these failures add up to a major shakeup on the horizon, but who does that shakeup involve? Most assume head coach Rex Ryan is gone after the season, but could general manager John Idzik follow him out the door?

"While speculation persists about Rex Ryan's future in New York, the man on the warmest seat in the Jets organization just might be general manager John Idzik," ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter said yesterday on "Sunday NFL Countdown."

"According to multiple sources within the organization, Idzik has alienated not just Jets fans but those in the organization around him in the front office and on the coaching staff. Those in the organization said Idzik hasn't played the game of politics well - neither internally nor externally - and it has cost him support in various areas.

"Jets management is aware of the unhappiness being expressed about Idzik and that is expected to be of consideration when Jets owner Woody Johnson decided just how major the changes to the organization he makes will be."

Should Ryan get the axe, there are apparently numerous football networks willing to pay top dollar for his services on the small screen. As for Idzik, it's harder to live down a debacle of a season in New York City. He may have only taken over as GM with the Jets in 2013, but the talent on this roster is eroded and fragile at best.

Jets fans should expect some major changes during the off-season.
