There's a hairy connection between "Beachin'" singer Jake Owen and "The Voice" coach Blake Shelton.

Ever since Jake Owen burst onto the country music scene in 2006 with his hit "Yee Haw," the singer's long, brown hair has been his trademark. When Blake Shelton had his first hit with "Austin" in 2001, he had a full-blown mullet much longer than Owen's hair.

Shelton sheered his over-the-shoulder locks in 2006, and now Owen has followed suit; he's also close-cropped.

Owen traded his long mane for what he tagged as a "high and tight" look, according to AOL.

The singer joked about his transformation Thursday (Dec. 4) with a tweet, showing the clippings on the barber shop floor and captioned the photo, "they said I wouldn't."

An hour and a half later, Owen revealed his newer and cleaner transformation with a selfie.
