Ian McLagan, who played keyboards for British rock bands Faces and Small Faces, has passed away at age 69.

"According to a Paste source who was present in McLagan's hospital room in Austin, Texas, the musician - who also has collaborated with The Rolling Stones and led his own band for decades - died at 2:39 p.m. CST after suffering a stroke," Paste Magazine reported.

Faces featured singer Rod Stewart.

The news of McLagan's death was confirmed via a posting on McLagan's official website, which explained that he died from complications due to a stroke in the hospital "surrounded by family and friends" in his adopted hometown. 

"I am completely devestated by this shocking news and I know this goes for Ronnie and Rod also," Small Faces and Faces drummer Kenney Jones said on the website, referring to former Faces bandmates Stewart and guitarist Ronnie Wood.

According to McLagan's website, he was scheduled to start a North American tour today (Tuesday, Dec. 3), opening for Nick Lowe.
