While rumors continue about Brock Lesnar returning to the UFC, Bellator MMA recently expressed its interest in signing the former heavyweight.

Bellator President and CEO Scott Coker discussed the situation in an interview with Ariel Helwani on "The MMA Hour," saying his company is looking to sign the current WWE star in January 2015, according to Bleacher Report.

"We've had a conversation internally and it's worth a conversation, but that's something we'll pursue maybe later into January ...," said Coker . "I would say, look, any fighter that's out there or any star athlete - not star athlete in the sense of a baseball player, but like a Brock Lesnar - that really wants to fight, we're going to have a conversation with them. Because if they can move the needle, we're going to want them on Spike TV."

Rumors about Lesnar coming back to fight have been floating around since former WWE commentator Jim Ross said in an interview that the pro wrestler's contract with WWE is almost up, Bleacher Report said.

Ross said there is a good chance that Lesnar could return to the UFC as he looks "phenomenal, strength-wise" and "scary."

Coker added in the interview that Lesnar is "a big needle mover," The Inquisitr reported.

"There have been several years that have passed and I think that he still has the WWE limelight," he said. "So, I think that [Lesnar] still has a lot of star power, but to come back and say, 'Hey, I want to train, I want to commit, I want fight,' that's going to be a big commitment on his part. We haven't had a conservation yet, but we'd like to at some point."

Bellator is also rumored to be looking to sign former WWE CM Punk, who has been training extensively in MMA lately. The signing of both Lesnar and Punk could help Bellator a great deal in competing with the UFC.
