Most people cook one turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. For the ninth straight year, country star Tracy Lawrence cooked 500 of the birds for a special Thanksgiving dinner that feeds the homeless in Nashville, Tenn.

On Nov. 25, Lawrence hosted his ninth Annual "Mission Possible" Turkey Fry in downtown Nashville. The event brings together area volunteers and the Nashville Rescue Mission to fry donated turkeys that will provide meals for those less fortunate in the area.

"I just feel if everybody would give something positive back in their lifetime to their community, the world would be a better place," the singer told local WSMV News.

The annual turkey fry provides Thanksgiving dinner to the 800 residents of the Nashville Rescue Mission. The mission serves 2,000 meals a day, every day, but Lawrence, his volunteers and the sponsors who donate the turkeys and the propane give the Thanksgiving holidays a truly traditional touch for the mission's residents.

Lawrence is one of the most recognizable voices in country music with songs such as "Paint Me a Birmingham," "Time Marches On," "Alibis" and "Find Out Who Your Friends Are." The entertainer has had 22 songs on the Billboard Top 10 charts with 18 No. 1 singles and has sold over 13 million albums.
