Gun fans and Apple fans alike should be interested in the design for a new shotgun created by Marc Newson, the tech giant's top designer.

The gun is intended to be produced by firearms manufacturer Beretta, which Newson said uses industrial design techniques to make sure the gun's parts don't have any visible connections and that no sharp edges are present, according to The Independent. The design establishes the gun as an industrial-inspired version of one of the company's traditional shotguns.

The wood is positioned further up the gun so that the firearm is less cold and metallic and more streamlined.

Laser technology was used to create the design for the gun, which features images engraved in the metal parts that are inspired by hunting images from Japan.

"The engraving is a clear homage to Asia as the homeland of the pheasant," Beretta said.

Newson became a part-time member of Apple's staff in September, The Independent reported. He still works at his own company in the U.K. while giving Apple a hand with secret projects.

The base model for Beretta's shotgun is currently available for 4,000 pounds, while other models in the custom range are available for over $100,000. The price for Newson's new model has yet to be revealed.
