Teams reportedly soon could be asking the Boston Celtics about a trade for veteran Brandon Bass.  Given Bass's solid performance so far this season, teammates such as Rajon Rondo and Gerald Wallace are unsurprised by the growing number of trade rumors involving him.

Bass has been the subject of trade rumors before, and this season appears to be no different.

"(Bass) has continued to play very well for the Celtics, which means there's a chance he may not be with the team this entire season," Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald wrote earlier in the week.  "Scouts and opposing front-office types have begun to speak and inquire about the 29-year-old forward, a practice that's generally a precursor to discussing a trade."

Bass has been solid this season, averaging 8.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in just over 18 minutes per game.  His solid production, along with his nine years of experience in the league, doesn't make it a surprise to his teammates that some teams are inquiring about him.

"If there's a team competing for a championship and they could steal him, that'd be big," said Rajon Rondo. "He's one of the best mid-range shooters in the league.

"He's a professional. That's why he's here. That's why he's getting paid the big bucks. He does what it takes to stay at this level, and he's playing at a high level. Regardless of whether he's starting or coming off the bench - you know, there are nights where he may play 30 (minutes) or play 10 - he's consistent. He's always been really consistent and ready to go."

Gerald Wallace shared the same sentiments.

"That doesn't surprise me," he said. "Brandon is an exceptional big. He's very good in the pick and roll, and he's very good defensively at moving his feet. He's one of our best defensive bigs we have, so it doesn't surprise me at all.

"It's great that people are recognizing what he's doing and that teams are interested in him."

Boston is 4-8 and looks headed for the lottery.  Bass is on an expiring contract, which could make it worth it for Boston to trade him and collect an asset or two in return.
