An alleged a gang hit man in Texas was arrested for possible connections to at least three murders.

Ruben Reyes, 36, allegedly is responsible for the fatal shootings of three high-ranking members of his own Texas Mexican Mafia, reported Reuters

"They were ordered killed for their alleged mishandling of $60,000 and making poor decisions in regards to the group's daily operations," said the FBI affidavit, released by federal authorities as Reyes made his initial court appearance.

Officials also believe Reyes is behind an order that led to the death of Texas police officer Julian Pesina in May.

Reyes apparently turned himself in to police when four people open fired at his home, leaving him and a bystander injured, reported Reuters.

He allegedly told police that gang members dug the graves for the three members he killed days before the murder, My San Antonio reported.

Reyes is a member of the Texas Mexican Mafia, also known as La Mexikanemi, which was founded in the Texas prison system in the 1980s. According to police, the group is involved with several illegal activities including drug dealing, loan sharking, and collecting proceeds from criminal operators in the local towns run by their gangs.

Records show Reyes was previously charged with making terroristic threats, theft of up to $500 and the unlawful carrying of a handgun. His previous arrest was tied to a 5-year, multi-agency investigation into the Texas Mexican Mafia's alleged drug and extortion crimes in the area, authorities told My San Antonio.

Reyes was charged with using and discharging a firearm during a violent crime in aid of racketeering activity. He has yet to be indicted, as the investigation is ongoing.

If convicted on federal racketeering charges, he could face life in prison.
