Director Joe Wright's ("Hanna" and "Atonement") new film, "Pan," released its first full trailer today, and it's really quite magical. After watching it, I can honestly say that it's shaping up to be the best live-action adaptation of Peter Pan as of yet. The trailer displays some vibrant visuals, impressive looking set-pieces...and also a terrifying Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard. To be honest, this film was flying way under my radar but after viewing this trailer, I must say that I am greatly anticipating its release date next summer.

The official synopsis is as follows:

"Offering a new take on the origin of the classic characters created by J.M. Barrie, the action adventure follows the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny-to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan."

So it is an origin story, but it appears to be offering a new twist on the classic, Barrie tale...which is par for the course these days in Hollywood. The film also boasts a stellar cast that also includes Garrett Hedlund, Rooney Mara, Adeel Akhtar, Levi Miller, Taejoo Na, Nonso Anozie, Kathy Burke, Kurt Egyiawan, Lewis MacDougall, Leni Zieglmeier, Jack Charles, and Amanda Seyfried. Thanks to Comic Book Resources for the tip.

"Pan" is due in theaters on July 17, 2015. Check out the trailer below:
